I have been here three times with family and friends, all during fall event themed weekends, and have never once encountered rude staff or felt like I was being nickle and dimed. That's because I camp a lot and I understand the rules of campgrounds, most of which are the same pretty much anywhere you go. Quiet hours, visitors fees, one tent per site, etc. I respect the rules and thus have never had a bad time here. We like to camp in tents and there are lovely spacious, grassy, and shaded spots on the far side of the campground, right along the river. In the fall, the scenery is spectacular and the river is just right for a family canoe trip. There aren't a ton of activities here, which is the only reason I give it four stars instead of five, but it's always been peaceful and quiet here, even on event weekends.
We use Indian valley for kayaking. We've done the short trip and the long trip and enjoyed them both. The long trip involves portaging around a dam. So, be prepared to carry your canoe or kayak 200 yards.
This place is awesome if your going with little ones. Its got lots of activities for all ages. Sites are too close together though that the main reason I did not give five stars. But if your looking for a rural camping ground where you can have peace and quiet from others or a place to party this is not the place for you. But if your looking for a fun spot for a family vacation this is the spot. The only bad thing I can say is they need to clean the indoor pool more often. One time we went and it smelled of pee and after one swim in it I did not return the whole week. Also the outhouse needs to be cleaned and emptied more. But I also am a clean freak. Besides that we had a good time.
Love it here! We've made this a family tradition every summer to camp at least a week in the summers. AMAZING STAFF, SUPER FRIENDLY AND GO OUT OF THEIR WAY TO MAKE YOUR STAY GREAT! They have canoe, paddle boat and tube rentals. Indoor pool and little store for all the little things forgot at home and actually reasonable prices!
The ground was really rutted. Kept tripping and stubbing my toe. Otherwise it's lots of fun here. Just be careful where you setup camp.
